Phase 2 refurbishment grant:

St. Briavels Assembly Rooms 2008 ~ Pre-phase 1 renovation

Registered charity: 1124367. Registered chariatable company: 6558465

The St.Briavels Assembly Rooms are funded & run as a charitable limited company on the behalf of the parishioners of St.Briavels, having been built & donated to them by Captain Octavius W.Andrews CBE, using money donated by his uncle, Charles Lord Denton, circa 1900. The main hall was re-built during 2008 and re-opened in January 2009.

The Rooms consist of the main village hall with stage and dressing room / meeting room. plus a snooker room, loos, kitchen, meeting room and a very pretty reading room.

After winning a Defra grant of £94,000 from the Rural Enterprise Scheme and £96,000 loan from the Charity Bank, renovation work on the main village hall finally began on 21st April 2008.Further grants are now being sought to extend the renovation to the remainder of the community owned buildings. To get us started, the Parish Council has committed £6,000 towards phase 2 of the project.

Phase 2 refurbishment should include a new pitched & roof with roof lights to the recreation side of thte building, plus new toilets with a disabled loo as well as a new, bigger kitchen.

It is widely agreed that a major improvement & benefit to the community would be the integration of the main hall & recreation room by mean of a glass partition fold back wall, giving more flexibility to open up a bigger space for wedding receptions & shows.

Funds are being sought to do this as part of phase 2!

This project is supported under the England Rural Development Programme by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund.

AN APPEAL
TO PARISHIONERS OF HEWELSFIELD & ST. BRIAVELS

Are you aware that St. Briavels Assembly Rooms belongs to YOU?

They are currently funded and run as a charity by local volunteers - but your help is needed too, in order to commence phase 2 of the improvements which will include disabled loos, a new kitchen and new roof to the badly leaking snooker hall. All you need to do is -

'ADOPT A FUND RAISER'

Just 1 EVENT - Just 1 DAY

It doesn't need to be a grand affair; it can be really quick, easy and fun to do.
Just decide on something you enjoy doing with friends - such as lunches, gourmet suppers, coffee mornings, jumble sales, barbeques ~ and hold one in aid of your Assembly Rooms. It's a great & rewarding way to make a contribution back into our community.

You may feel up to something more ambitious, such as putting on an event in the village hall or elsewhere in the village; you may have been harbouring a great idea for far too long and this is your chance to go mad!
You can have any resources available and as much support as you need from the Assembly Rooms Committee team, including help advertising your event.

NO? Heart willing, but no time / energy / inclination? Would you rather maybe make a donation of some kind instead? donate here

THANK YOU!
A great big thank you to all of you who have already done their bit! These have included donations of paint, equipment & cash, art & craft fairs, guided walks with lunch, fabulous choir concerts, a lady's pamper night, art group & table tennis proceeds - even assistance with events. It all helps.

If you are interested in joining the committee or can lend a hand in some way, please call 01594 530 950 for more information or email help@st-briavels.com.
