LATEST NEWS!

Thanks to the completion of 3 phases of refurbishment since 2008, the Assembly Rooms can now provide an exceptionally desirable venue for a wide rage of events.

Further grants are being sought to undertake the final phase of refurbishment required. This will include the creation of a safe enclosed walled garden area to the rear and restoration of the historic and currently disused 'Reading Room' Nearly there!

St. Briavels Assembly Rooms 2011 ~ Pre-phase 2 renovation...

The St.Briavels Assembly Rooms are funded & run as a charitable limited company on the behalf of the parishioners of St.Briavels, having been built & donated to them by Captain Octavius W.Andrews CBE, using money donated by his uncle, Charles Lord Denton, circa 1900.

After winning a Defra grant of £94,000 from the South West Rural Enterprise Scheme and securing a £96,000 loan from the Charity Bank, renovation of the main village hall finally began on 21st April 2008. The main hall was re-built during 2008 and re-opened in January 2009.

This was followed by another phase of refurbishment in 2011 & 2012 as further funds were raised and grants secured from Biffaward, the FODDC LAG 'Rural Development Programme for England' fund, the Summerfield Charitable Trust, Magnox North and the £6,000 from the Parish Council.

The radically improved and new look Assembly Rooms re-opened fully in June 2012.

Thanks to a stunning new glass partition wall, the Rooms is now a large open plan flexible space consisting of a combination of 3 serpate hireable areas. These are the main hall, the stylish recreation room and cafe/bar area with its own access to the garden and a large backstage area /office suite with seperate acccess to the garden through French doors.

The new toilets include a disabled loo and a walk in wet showerroom plus baby changing station. There is also a very pretty reading room to the side, but this currently awaits major works to bring it back into use. Funds are currently being sought to achieve this.

AN APPEAL

TO PARISHIONERS OF HEWELSFIELD & ST. BRIAVELS

Are you aware that St. Briavels Assembly Rooms belongs to YOU?
They are currently funded and run as a charity by local volunteers - but your help is needed too, in order to commence the final phase of refurbishment which will include the walled garden and the Reading Room.
All you need to do is -
'ADOPT A FUND RAISER'
Just 1 EVENT - Just 1 DAY

Just decide on something you enjoy doing with friends - such as lunches, gourmet suppers, coffee mornings, jumble sales, barbeques ~ and hold one in aid of your Assembly Rooms. It's a great & rewarding way to make a contribution back into our community.

NO? Heart willing, but no time / energy / inclination? Would you rather maybe make a donation of some kind instead? donate here

THANK YOU!
A great big thank you to all of you who have already done their bit! These have included donations of paint, equipment & cash, cakes, art & craft fairs, guided walks with lunch, fabulous choir concerts, a lady's pamper night, art group & table tennis proceeds - even assistance with events. It all helps.

If you are interested in joining the committee or can lend a hand in some way, please call 01594 530 950 for more information or email help@st-briavels.com.
